Kelly Mildred Newman Kelly of Clinton, 78, a retired South Central Bell employee and tour director, died Dec. 29 at home. Services were Jan. 2 at Lakewood Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Mrs.

Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, William Kelly, who died in 1972, and also her father, James M. Newman, mother, Eva H. Newman, and sister, Dorothy Grant. Mrs. Kelly was an active member of St.

Salus Presbyterian Church and a regular at the Monday Ladies Luncheon at First Baptist Church in Jackson. She was also active in the Telephone Pioneers. Retiring in 1987, after 45 years service with South Central Bell, she began a new "career" as a tour guide. She directed many tours all over the world and made the trips so much fun for everyone lucky enough to be with her. She enjoyed her travels so much and always had her bags packed and ready to go.

Mrs. Kelly was a vibrant, energetic lady and lived life to the fullest. She was a joy to her family, many friends and everyone who knew her. Her excitement for life was contagious to whoever she was with. Survivors include: brothers, Jim Newman and wife Nita of Jackson, Bob Newman and wife Ann of Brandon; sisters, Lucille Clements of Ridgeland, Nell Buckley of New Hebron, and Peggy Cook and husband John of Pompano Beach, and many nieces and nephews who will miss their dear "Mimi" so very much.

Bobby Guillory Robert "Bobby" Allen Guillory of Horn Lake, 37, a maintenance supervisor died in an auto accident Dec. 29 near Hernando. His wife, LaDonna Lynn Guillory, died in the accident and their services were together. of Clinton, 76, died Jan. 1at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were Jan. 3 at Wright Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. A native of Boyd, Texas, Mr.

Burrow grew up in Oxford, moving to Jackson in 1954 to work with the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He retired from the physical plant operations at UMMC in 1986. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of both World War and Korea. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Jackson, where he served as a deacon and ton said.

He was a member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Eunice Evans. Mr. Roberts is also survived by several nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren, and many beloved friends. Celestia 'Cooker' Thomas Ruby Celestia "Cooker" Thomas of Jackson, 97, died Jan. 3 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Services were Jan.

6 at Lakewood Funeral Home with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park. Ruby Celestia Thomas was born in 1905 in Leake County. She was affectionately called "Cooker" or "Thomas" by many who knew and loved her. Celestia decided after hearing a missionary nurse that God was calling her to that profession. After a semester at Clark College, she dropped out to care for her mother.

Later she was able to follow her life's calling and graduated from the School of Nursing at the Baptist Hospital, Jackson, in 1932. She worked for many years as a private duty nurse in the Jackson area and at Carthage, where she was director of nurses. She was a favorite of patients and doctors in providing the special medical attention or assistance needed by them. She was a constant caregiver. Anytime a family member or friend had a need, she was there to help.

This made her a special person to many individuals. One friend stated, "Some people you count as pure joy to know. However, she could be very direct and authoritative. That was Cooker." Another stated, "She was there when all the babies were born. She was like a member of the family." Cooker attended church wherever she lived: at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Leake County, at First Baptist Church in Jackson, and at Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton.

She is survived by her daughter, Marion Wallace and son-in-law, Hilton Wallace of Florence; half-sisters, Ruth Harrison of Jackson, Robbie Crane of Pascagoula, Dorothy Wilson of Clinton; granddaughters, Deborah Knight of Richland, Brenda Patterson of Madison; three greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Roberts was born Dec. 3, 1940, in Jefferson David County to Vergo and Cassie Roberts. He attended school at Clem and Prentiss High School. Mr. Roberts was an insurance agent for over 15 years with Physicians Mutual Insurance Co.

He qualified to attend the annual national convention in Hawaii for nine years before becoming ill. He was a member of Faith Sunday school class at Park Place Baptist Church in Pearl. Dr. Bob Dominy, senior pastor of Park Place was the officiant of the service. Dorothy P.

Barfield Dorothy P. Barfield of Jackson, 83, died Jan. 5 at Mississippi Bap- tist Medical Center. Services were Jan. 7 at Parkway Baptist Church with burial in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Wright Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton handied the arrangements. Mrs. Barfield, a longtime resident of Jackson, was a faithful member of Parkway Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a member of WMU. She worked at Saks Department Store until February 2002, where she had served in the accounts payable department since 1987. She previously was the co-owner of Barfield Hardware.

Mrs. Barfield enjoyed reading, and working cross word puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Welton Barfield Sr. Survivors include: son, David Warren Barfield and his wife, Kimberly Rinehart Barfield of Brandon; son, James Welton Barfield Jr. and his wife, Jerri Lynn Barfield of the Old Pearl Community; grandchildren, William Joseph Lawson of Brandon, Angie Barron Barfield of Jackson, Robert Presley Barfield of Old Pearl Community, Josie Smith of Jackson, Chase Presley Barfield of Old Pearl Community, Cheyenne Barfield of Old Pearl Community, and Raven Barfield of Old Pearl Community; sister, Polly P.
